Behind the broadcast

How this edition was made

Monday 19 October 2026 · 26 minutes, fully automated

Every edition is found, researched, fact-checked and written by an automated newsroom, then read by synthetic presenters. A claim goes into the script only when two or more independent sources confirm it, or the primary source itself (an official statement, filing or dataset). Everything else is left out. For this edition 56 claims were checked: 34 confirmed, 22 left out.

From 288 reports to 10 stories

Everything the newsroom read before choosing this edition’s stories; 5 researched stories were dropped because the main claim couldn’t be confirmed.

Our standards

The rules every story has to pass before James and Julie read it.

  1. Two sources, or it’s left out

A claim is stated as fact only when two or more independent outlets confirm it, or the primary source itself. Anything else stays out of the script.

  2. Copies don’t count twice

Wire stories and syndicated rewrites are detected, so one report can’t pass for several.

  3. Statements stay statements

What politicians, companies and campaigners say is attributed to them, never presented as fact.

  4. No confirmation, no story

A story whose main claim can’t be confirmed is dropped and replaced by the next-best story.

  5. Both sides, no opinions

On politics and conflicts we report each side’s position, attributed. The presenters never give their own view.

  6. Checked again before broadcast

Every line of the script is checked against the confirmed facts. Lines that fail are corrected or cut.

  7. Substance over fluff

Deep dives explore technical mechanisms and verified evidence in detail, cutting out repetitive padding and comedy.
